Beware the Wizardry and Seduction of the Games

This is another clarion call, this time regarding the latest and hottest news that one will encounter on the streets - the Olympics. Granted the opulence and grandeur accorded it by the host nation, one that is clamouring for and almost worthy of the claim of 'the' superpower no-less.  Yet, however great (and small) nations will be, we must remember this: Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,       And are counted as the small dust on the scales; - Isaiah 40:15 The chief danger that the follower in Yeshua, of these modern times, caught up in the atmosphere of the Games, is that of the allure of the world out there in the form of man-centred pride and glory that is even masqueraded as 'winning for God'.  Not forgetting the marvels of technology and individual athletic ability that strut the abundance of human achievements. A similar message that was spreading four years earlier, a social commentary, really, coming from a native o...

The Perils of the 'Doctrines' of Musical Worship

I came across this article from www.deceptioninthechurch.com , in which it refers to the insiduous nature of ascribing the essence of spirituality, godliness, holiness plainly according to the attributes of the style of musical worship that is employed in the midst of any congregation of worshippers. Link It does a noteworthy attempt at drawing a fine line between advocating the Hebraic roots in the element of worship in the Christian faith; and that of placing an overemphasis upon the spiritualizing of worship through an un-negotiable approach of employing only the Davidic style of worship from the Old Testament. I took an interest in sharing this article, especially because it provides a form of antithesis to how a reader may view my recent 'sudden' influx of 'interest' in the sharing of many songs used by Paul Wilbur's Messianic Praise music ministry, since I expect that that has become a backdrop thesis with regard to how I consider the value of the style us...

Deception in the Church: The 'Movement' for the Restoration of Davidic Worship/Warfare

http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/orrel11.html Insights into the subtleties of doctrines that preach the application of the Davidic style of worship and render exceeding spiritual significance upon its use beyond its scope of influence.

Messianic Praise - On Your Walls O Jerusalem

Image
A song and a call to all watchmen who will watch over Israel, to the words written in the book of the prophet Isaiah, the sixty-second chapter: " 6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent, 7 And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. " " 10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples! 11 Indeed the LORD has proclaimed To the end of the world: “ Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘ Surely your salvation is coming; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His work before Him.’”

A call to the Church towards its proper identity in its shared inheritance in God with that of Israel, and a call to all Israel to return to be grafted as the natural shoots of the True Vine that is Yeshua Ha-Mashiach. A refrain to the call as mentioned in Revelation 22 wherein: "the Spirit and the Bride say "Come !" " with reference to Christ the King and His bride the Church - to which the rest of creation hears the call.

The Ebbing Essence of Worship in Contemporary Worship Music

I titled this post this way, with reference to much of the quality of songs sung in churches today, that in essence, carry the underlying tone of what God has/can do for (sinful) man, instead of what sinful man must do towards his Creator. I find the words in the bridge of Steve Merkel's song "Let the Weight of Your Glory Fall" (linked here Link   - "....we do not seek Your hand, we only seek Your face...) poignantly revealing the truth behind worship that God desires - that man seek His face, instead of His gift (chiefly, of salvation).  That man, in all his depravity, must come to a face-to-face encounter with his Creator.  That element in the singing of songs in worship should never be lost.

Doing what's right without fear or favour - an article by Dr Lee Wei Ling

Extracted from The Straits Times on 30 July 2008 _________________________________________________________________________ I was born and bred in Singapore. This is my home, to which I am tied by family and friends. Yet many Singaporeans find me eccentric, though most are too polite to verbalise it. I only realised how eccentric I am when one friend pointed out to me why I could not use my own yardstick to judge others. I dislike intensely the elitist attitude of some in our upper socio-economic class. I have been accused of reverse snobbery because I tend to avoid the wealthy who flaunt their wealth ostentatiously or do not help the less fortunate members of our society. I treat all people I meet as equals, be it a truck driver friend or a patient and friend who belongs to the richest family in Singapore. I appraise people not by their usefulness to me but by their character. I favour those with integrity, compassion and courage. I feel too many among us place inordinate emphasi...
