Different By Design - Discovering God's Will for Today's Man and Woman

Rating:★★★★
Category:Books
Genre: Religion & Spirituality
Author:John MacArthur, Jr.
As promised in my entry on "Do Men and Women Worship Differently?" in the Links section, I now bring forth a review of this book, very briefly and with much humility.

This book is intended by the author, John MacArthur, to be used for personal and group study, with the approach to present the biblical contexts that aid in the correct understanding of being a man or a woman according to God's design, and to apply such biblical principles in the purview of roles assumed by men and women. MacArthur highlights the urgency of presenting the argument for a Bible-based perspective of what it means to be man or a woman by setting current trends in society (and in the Church) as a backdrop. Such trends in the prevailing world culture are those that threaten clear and firm biblical instruction regarding male and female roles.

MacArthur systematically breaks down the presentation into three main parts:
Part One: The Attack on God's Design
- Recounting of the path of Man from Creation to Corruption through the Fall
- Addresses the Case for Authority and Submission
Part Two: God's Design for Marriage
- Marriage as it was meant to be - as God had instituted it
- The Excellent Wife at Work
- Having different places in God's plan - for those with various social status
Part Three: God's Design for the Church
- Characteristics for the Church's Leading Men
- God's High Call for Women
- presents the Character of Service
- conclusively converges the concepts upon a God-honouring way of life

This book is indeed helpful to couples who are considering marriage, as well as for married couples well into their later years, who are seriously seeking the priority of living biblically in their life-long relationships with each other
