This is an apt book that arose amid an alarming trend of leadership failures, notably within the worldwide body of Christ. The presiding assumptions in the development of this book, in summary among these:
1. Every leader suffers from some degree of personal dysfunction.
2. Personal dysfunction, in some form or other, can often serve to drive the individual in desiring to succeed in leadership.
3. Many leaders are not aware of the dark side of their personalities and the personal dysfunctions that drive them.
4. The personal characteristics that drive individuals to succeed and lead often have a shadow side that can cripple them once they become leaders and very often causes significant failure - this is called the "paradox of personal dysfunction in leadership".
..6. Scripture addresses the dark side of human personality and the motivations that drive us to achieve, with the purpose of enabling leaders to understand themselves and to overcome the debilitating aspects of their personalities that affect them in leadership.
As each individual in the body of Christ grows and matures, it is inevitable that he or she will encounter opportunities and challenges in assuming varying levels and positions of leadership. This book is a worthy read for all leaders and leaders to be.
