Animal Farm by George Orwell

Image
Full-length (over an hour) animated film circa 1954 yet still so very applicable to our current local times and context.

The situation of living here in the light of the current political situation has become so unacceptable that one searches oneself to find a morbid comfort in the words of the second verse of this song, at 1.26

Vote For Change II - S'pore GE 2011

After such a long hiatus, this is a very pertinent thought to be put on record, at a critical time of personal and national importance. As stated as the accompanying comment to this video link which I placed on my Facebook, this is a heartfelt echo, igniting the deep-seated hatred for the system built up by them for which sealed off the possibility of me having a younger sister, forced my exit to pursue my education overseas, driven me into an ongoing state of self-deprivation of the luxury of owning a means of transport that many others feel resigned towards for the sake of yielding to their creature comforts. On top of the above, which thus set me on the path of social isolation, so to speak, with regard to all the many other creature comforts that many seem not to be able to wean themselves of, thereby giving in and conceding territory of their souls to the incumbents here.

The Influence of Affluence - How the New Rich Are Changing America

Image
Rating: ★★★ Category: Books Genre: Other Author: Russ Alan Prince and Lewis Schiff This happened to be the follow-on to my reading of Robert H Frank's "Falling Behind" about the rising underclass in (American, but also much of the English-speaking developed world) society today. Could not help with the disgust and indignation boiling inside me, taking in the "do whatever they want to do, whenever and whereever they want or like to do it" mentality of the rising prevalence of the rich middle-incomers.

Falling Behind: How Rising Inequality Harms the Middle Class

Image
Rating: ★★★★ Category: Books Genre: Other Author: Robert H. Frank In the light of the increasingly painfully widening income divide amongst the populace of this little red dot on earth, the context references crafted by the author reflect the strikingly similar circumstances faced by the the growing underclass of our nation, with respect to the author's own, who happens to be a contemporary with the current chairman of the US Federal Reserve. Prejudicial reading, framed in the perspective of the increasing income inequality of the masses, is strongly encouraged when exploring this book.

You Needed Me

Heh...this may be sacrilegious in some circles, but the underlying thoughts of the video-maker in pairing the imagery of Yeshua's work on earth with the heart lyrics of Anne Murray's song truly deserve credit.
