Rating: ★★★★★ Category: Movies Genre: Other Caught a part of it on HBO, but that was enough for me to be taken in and won over on its underlying theme - the international arms trade and their practitioners. The film goes on to intimately portray the deep social aversion and moral dilemma suffered by and impressed upon individuals who are caught up in the delicate situations that revolved around such a dangerous profession. The agony of a gradual and seemingly irreversible decay of the soul, due to damaged relationships, is poignantly conveyed. All this at the expense of a perceived overwhelming need for "a necessary evil", of the perpetuation of illegal international arms trading, for which I do admit to give assent as well, in this dark and ugly world.

Link This very recent piece of news raised some mild alert of sorts in me... My professional career is one that revolves around interacting with the architects of new capabilities for the Army, on the ground level.  By my observations, which can be viewed with common opinion with any person with a keen eye to such matters, is that the Singapore Armed Forces has become an increasingly offensive armed force, to the level of potentially being able to prosecute a war beyond the territorial sovereignty of its host nation, short of total support from its political regime and its citizenry. My feeling is, if this new development bears fruit, and if the Government of Singapore accepts the invitation by obligation, going by its continuing and relentless effort in the 'war against terrorism', we may soon see our soldiers donning the colours or arm-bands of NATO overseas, notably in Iraq and Afghanistan.
