Mendacity

Vivid portrayal as well as useful self-reflection of the well-deserved moral disgust of the inherent traits of human behaviour, of hypocrisy, politicking, putting up appearances and superficiality in every aspect of human relations, so well related in this scene from the 1958 film "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor.

Chanced upon this very insightful critique of the supposed idea of American invincibility and her pervading sense of self-importance and indispensability in the world.
